If you have ever been in San Diego for an extended period of time, you probably know we don’t have the most extensive public transit system. With so many freeways connecting all of San Diego (I SWEAR I can get almost anywhere in San Diego in about 20 minutes), we don’t quite need the public transit cities like New York, and San Francisco (my least favorite city that I’ve visited… just a little tip!) require. But as a San Diego native, I’ve watched parking rates steadily increase, gas prices soar, and an ever-growing influx of transplants and tourists, which means more traffic. Working in beautiful downtown San Diego, I have the option to instead use the trolley system which I LOVE. I get to experience and interact with so many different types of people, all before I even arrive to work. The ride downtown is such a melting pot of people (just like the city itself!), and I am so grateful that I have been exposed to this wonderful, messy, weird (and sometimes very uncomfortable) side of my city. Stay tuned for more posts on my thoughts and moments riding the Big Red.
